The call

Golf equipment profits carry the group while the Fila sneaker brand rides fashion cycles and depends on Anta for its biggest growth market.

Misto Holdings makes golf equipment under the Titleist and FootJoy brands, plus sportswear under the Fila label, generating about $3 billion in annual revenue. The golf side is hard to replace because golf's governing bodies certify and approve equipment, and professional golfers validate the brand on tour, which competitors like Nike and Adidas cannot easily replicate; the sportswear side is tougher to defend because fashion tastes change and larger companies like Anta Sports (which already licenses Fila in China) are growing fast. The biggest question is whether Anta Sports will eventually compete directly against Misto outside China or use its growing power to squeeze the company's profits.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI mostly shows up as club-fitting and design tools inside Acushnet, not as a rival eating sales. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Anta Sports (Fila China licensee, Puma and Amer Sports stakeholder). Anta runs Fila in China, Misto's fastest growing market, while also building global scale through Puma and Amer Sports. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Acushnet's USGA and R&A tour certification keeps pros and serious golfers locked into Titleist and FootJoy gear.
What would change this call
Fila US headcount continues falling below 1,829 (Dec 2025 level) in 2026 filings. Would show Fila brand's US contraction is deepening, not stabilizing.
Acushnet reports tariff-driven margin compression in 2026 quarterly results. Would show the golf-equipment moat is under real cost pressure.
Anta Sports announces new moves involving Puma or Amer Sports in Misto's non-China markets. Would show the licensee-turned-rival is encroaching beyond China.

Questions people ask
Is Fila Holdings profitable in 2026?
Yes. Misto Holdings, the renamed Fila Holdings Corp, reported Q1 2026 operating profit of KRW193.7 billion, up 19% year over year, on revenue of about $864 million, driven by Acushnet golf sales and Greater China expansion, as of March 31, 2026.
Did Fila Holdings change its name?
Yes. FILA Holdings Corporation officially renamed itself Misto Holdings Corp in April 2025 to reflect its identity as a diversified brand portfolio holder covering Fila sportswear and golf-equipment maker Acushnet, while the Fila brand itself keeps operating under that name.
Who owns the Fila brand in China?
Anta Sports holds Fila brand rights across Greater China, Hong Kong, and Macao, not Misto Holdings. Anta reported Fila China revenue growth of 6.9% in 2025, making China a separately controlled revenue stream outside the Korean parent's consolidated figures.
Could AI replace Fila's golf equipment business, Acushnet?
Unlikely near term. Acushnet's Titleist and FootJoy products rely on USGA and R&A conformance certification and PGA Tour validation, regulatory and trust barriers that AI tools cannot substitute; Nike itself abandoned golf equipment in 2016 despite deep resources.
Is Fila cutting jobs?
Third-party estimates from Revelio Labs show Fila USA headcount fell 19.4% from 2,271 employees in 2023 to about 1,829 by December 2025, even as Misto Holdings' consolidated revenue grew 4.7% in FY2025.
Who is Fila Holdings' biggest competitor?
Anta Sports, which licenses the Fila brand in China, is Fila's most structurally significant rival: it posted 2025 revenue of RMB80.22bn (about $11.3B), up 13.3%, and now holds a 29% Puma stake and controls Amer Sports.
