The call

Haver's archive and embeds hold for now, but Macrobond's AI push is the clearest test of whether that holds through 2027.

Haver Analytics sells historical economic data to investors and researchers. It has built something genuinely difficult to copy: a 45-year archive of economic numbers exactly as they were reported at the time, before governments revised them. That archive, plus deep connections to software like Excel and Goldman Sachs platforms, plus relationships with 2,500+ data sources, make it sticky. The catch is that a rival called Macrobond just hired an AI expert in April 2026 to build an AI-powered version of their platform, while Haver shows no public AI product yet. If Macrobond ships working AI tools that help traders and researchers faster than Haver's old-school approach, it could steal customers even if Haver's historical data stays valuable. The biggest unknown is what happens when founder Maurine Haver eventually steps down.

Why
01
AI pressure: Macrobond. Macrobond hired a Chief AI Officer in April 2026 to build an AI-native macro platform; Haver has shown no public AI product yet. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Bloomberg / LSEG-Refinitiv. Bloomberg and Refinitiv dominate broad market data but have shown no move into Haver's niche of archived, unrevised economic series. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. A 45+ year point-in-time archive of unrevised data plus embeds like Goldman Sachs Marquee that rivals cannot easily replicate or dislodge.
What would change this call
Macrobond ships an AI-native platform and names Haver clients it won within 12-18 months. Would show Haver's data moat is being bypassed at the product layer.
Haver announces or ships any AI-related product feature by mid-2027. Would show Haver is responding to competitive pressure rather than staying silent.
Goldman Sachs Marquee or Wolters Kluwer Blue Chip partnership is not renewed or is replaced. Would show erosion of Haver's key distribution integrations.

Questions people ask
Is Haver Analytics profitable?
As a private company, Haver Analytics does not disclose profitability. Third-party estimator Datanyze puts revenue at roughly 22.8 million dollars with 153 employees (undated estimate); no institutional funding round or IPO has been publicly reported.
Who owns Haver Analytics?
Founder Maurine A. Haver serves as CEO. A Prairie Capital Advisors record dated March 23, 2023 shows Haver Analytics sold common stock to its Employee Stock Ownership 401(k) Trust, indicating a partial ESOP ownership structure alongside founder control.
Could AI replace Haver Analytics?
Basic time-series aggregation and commentary could be automated, but Haver's 45-plus year archive of unrevised, as-reported data and 2,500+ direct sourcing relationships, described in Haver Products materials dated May 21, 2025, cannot be retroactively recreated by AI.
Who is Haver Analytics' biggest competitor?
Macrobond, a Francisco Partners backed Swedish rival, is the most direct threat: it appointed Pedro Rodrigues as Chief Platform and AI Officer on April 9, 2026 to build an AI-native macro research platform, a move Haver has not publicly matched.
Is Haver Analytics still growing?
Signals are mixed: market-intelligence firm Dialectica estimates Haver's Analytics Software line grew about 40% year over year (undated), while FrogHire recorded H-1B filings rising from 5 in 2024 to 6 in Q1 FY2025, a reported 400% increase.

Haver's DLX platform covers 290-plus economic and financial time-series databases sourced from 2,500-plus government and private organizations worldwide, updated within minutes of official release, per Haver Products dated May 21, 2025.
