The call

Hims still owns the pharmacy pipeline and the subscriber base, but the GLP-1 growth story that built its stock price is cooling fast while Amazon, CVS, and Novo itself close in on the same customers.

Hims & Hers lets people order prescription medicines and talk to doctors online instead of visiting a clinic. The company has real advantages: it holds pharmacy licenses the government tightly controls, it has 2.6 million paying customers, and it built its own system to screen patients before they order drugs. But those advantages are eroding fast. Amazon, CVS, and Walgreens are all starting their own online pharmacy services and can reach customers just as easily as Hims can. The biggest problem is the weight-loss drug business Hims was counting on to grow fast: it went from growing 59% a year down to barely 4% growth recently, because Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly started selling their brand-name versions directly to customers instead of letting companies like Hims resell the generic version. If growth stays stuck in single digits over the next few quarters, investors will realize the company cannot grow as fast as they hoped, and that is when real trouble starts.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI symptom checkers get absorbed into Hims' own MedMatch and Labs AI tools rather than replacing its licensed pharmacy pipeline. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Amazon Clinic, CVS/Walgreens, and Novo Nordisk/Eli Lilly direct-to-consumer channels. Retail pharmacy giants and the drugmakers themselves can now sell subscription weight loss care directly, cutting out the middleman. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. DEA-licensed pharmacy network, 2.6 million paying subscribers, and years of proprietary intake data competitors would need to rebuild from scratch.
What would change this call
Hims Q2 2026 earnings (Aug 10, 2026) YoY growth rate versus Q1's 4%. Reacceleration above 15% signals durable diversified demand; continued single-digit growth signals GLP-1 wave fading.
FDA advisory committee ruling on compounded peptides, July 23-24, 2026. A ruling against compounding removes a next-growth bet Hims was counting on.
Amazon Clinic or CVS MinuteClinic launching a branded DTC subscription telehealth product. Would show retail giants moving from potential to active competitors for Hims' subscriber base.

Questions people ask
Is Hims & Hers Health profitable in 2026?
Yes on a trailing basis: FY2025 net income was $128M on $2.35B revenue (reported 2026-02-22). But Q1 2026 EPS missed consensus (+$0.01) by a wide margin, landing between -$0.19 and -$0.40, even as FY2026 EBITDA guidance was raised to $275-350M.
Who is Hims & Hers' biggest competitor?
Ro is the closest peer, forming what analysts call a telehealth duopoly with Hims & Hers as of early 2026. LifeMD is gaining ground, having secured the same Novo Nordisk NovoCare Wegovy distribution deal in March 2026 that Hims & Hers holds.
Could AI replace Hims & Hers?
Unlikely as a full replacement: Hims & Hers holds DEA/pharmacy licensure and prescribing authority that generic AI chatbots cannot replicate. Its own tools, MedMatch and Labs AI (launched 2026-05-07), are in-house efficiency layers for intake and lab interpretation, not substitutes for regulated dispensing.
Is Hims & Hers growth slowing down in 2026?
Yes. Revenue growth decelerated sharply from 59% YoY in FY2025 ($2.35B) to just 4% YoY in Q1 2026 ($608M, reported 2026-05-11), as the compounded semaglutide business shifted to reselling Novo-branded drugs under a March 2026 settlement.
Did Hims & Hers settle its lawsuit with Novo Nordisk?
Yes. Novo Nordisk sued Hims & Hers on 2026-02-09 over patent infringement tied to a compounded oral semaglutide product; the companies settled on 2026-03-09, with Novo dropping the suit and Hims & Hers becoming an official platform for selling Novo's branded Ozempic and Wegovy.
What is the GLP-1 subscriber churn risk for Hims & Hers?
BofA flagged in July 2026 that oral Wegovy subscribers who join at an introductory $39/month rate often churn once pricing steps up to $149/month, a risk to Hims & Hers' H2 2026 EBITDA ramp given its raised FY2026 guidance of $275-350M.
