The call

HS Ad still holds LG's business by chaebol default, but the work AI can now do is shrinking the revenue that relationship used to guarantee.

HS Ad is an advertising agency that creates ads, plans media campaigns, and produces creative content, mainly for LG Electronics and other companies in the LG conglomerate. It is hard for outsiders to take away LG as a client because of politics within the LG family of companies, but that protective relationship does not stop the real problem: artificial intelligence tools can now write copy, make images and videos, and plan ad campaigns faster and cheaper than humans can, which is eating away at what HS Ad sells. The company is shrinking (revenue down over 10 percent recently, profit down much more) even though it won awards and built AI software platforms. Whether HS Ad can survive depends on whether its new AI tools actually make money soon, or whether they are just stories the company tells investors while the core business keeps declining.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generative AI tools for copywriting, image/video production, and media planning. AI is compressing the billable creative and production work that used to fill HS Ad's invoices, and revenue is falling double digits as a result. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: LG Electronics in-house marketing and creative teams. If LG brings more creative and media work in-house, HS Ad loses the core client relationship that built the company. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. HS Ad is LG Group's captive agency of record, a chaebol tie that outside agencies cannot easily break into.
What would change this call
HS Ad's next 1-2 quarterly revenue prints versus prior year. Continued double-digit decline shows AI is eroding the business faster than the AI-platform pivot can offset.
Public naming of external paying DASH or GEO platform clients within 12 months. Would show the AI pivot is generating real revenue, not just PR.
Any LG Electronics announcement on in-housing creative work or opening agency-of-record to competitive review. Would signal the captive-affiliate moat with LG Group is weakening.

HS Ad is a publicly listed KRX company (ticker 035000) that is also LG Group's in house agency of record, with LG Corporation as controlling shareholder via holding company GIIR. It has served as LG Electronics, LG U+, and LG H&H's primary agency since a 2004 to 2008 restructuring.

Could AI replace HS Ad's work?
HS Ad's own core deliverables, including copywriting, video production, and media planning, are directly exposed; the company produced what it calls 'Korea's First Fully AI-Generated Commercial' in 2024 and launched an internal AI agent platform called DASH in March 2026, showing displacement is already underway internally.
Is HS Ad's AI strategy (DASH, GEO) working commercially?
Unclear as of mid 2026. HS Ad launched its DASH AI agent platform in March 2026 and a generative engine optimization deal with Korea Tourism Organization in July 2026, but no named external paying DASH clients have been reported, while revenue kept declining double digits through Q1 2026.
