Magic Eden
Multichain NFT marketplace and wallet now pivoting into on-chain casino betting.
Magic Eden shut down the businesses that made it money and is now spending its own cash to chase Stake in gambling while a token lawsuit plays out.
Magic Eden used to make money from buying and selling digital collectibles and Bitcoin items, but shut those down in early 2026 because they weren't profitable. Now it is betting $75 million of its own cash on a gambling product called Dicey to compete with Stake, which already dominates on-chain betting and has way more users and trust. The company has no special advantage (no exclusive technology, no regulatory protection, no locked-in customers), faces lawsuits from angry investors over broken token promises, and will only survive if it can convince major venture investors to pour in fresh money in the next year or so, otherwise it will slowly burn through what it has left while Stake and other established gambling sites grab the customers.
Pagan v. Lu class-action reaches settlement or judgment. resolves legal overhang on founders and token holder claims.
Dicey obtains a gambling license in a major jurisdiction (e.g. Malta, UK, a US state). shows the casino pivot can operate legally at scale, not just on-chain.
