The call

NCS sits inside Singapore's sovereign IT perimeter with Temasek backing, and its open fight is against bigger global integrators for commercial work abroad, not against AI.

NCS Group builds computer systems and software for governments and businesses across Asia. It is hard to replace in Singapore's public sector because it has done the work for 40 years and has deep trust with officials, but it faces tough competition from much larger rivals like Accenture and TCS when it tries to sell services to regular companies in other countries. The real question is whether artificial intelligence will help NCS do its work faster and cheaper (making it more profitable) or whether AI will let clients do the work themselves and not need NCS at all.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI is currently widening NCS margins through delivery automation, not shrinking its business; FY25 EBIT rose 39%. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Accenture, TCS, Infosys, NTT Ltd, DXC Technology, IBM Consulting. These Tier-1 integrators already compete hard for APAC commercial IT work outside Singapore's sovereign-cleared government contracts. Could a giant copy it? No, they are blocked.
03
What protects it. Singapore government and defense contracts require sovereign clearance that bars foreign integrators and frontier AI vendors alike.
What would change this call
Singtel's Aug 2026 and Nov 2026 quarterly disclosures on NCS EBIT margin. Margin expansion shows AI aiding NCS; contraction would show margin pressure emerging.
Outcomes of Sam Liew's July 2026 reorg into 10 Operating Groups and AI Central over the following 6-12 months. Smooth execution signals stability; delivery failures would signal reorg instability.
Any publicly reported NCS contract wins outside Singapore in APAC commercial markets within 12 months. Wins would show NCS competing successfully against Accenture, TCS, Infosys outside its home turf.

Questions people ask
Is NCS Group profitable?
Yes. Under Singtel's FY25 results (year ended 31 March 2025), NCS operating revenue rose 5%, EBITDA rose 25%, and EBIT rose 39%, driven by Gov+ public sector work and cloud/data demand. Q3 FY26 (quarter ended 31 Dec 2025) showed EBIT of S$84 million, up 31.9% year on year.
Who owns NCS Group?
NCS is wholly owned by Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel), which is majority owned by Temasek Holdings. NCS became a fully autonomous operating unit within Singtel in early 2021, reporting directly to the Singtel Group CEO rather than through an enterprise division.
Could AI replace NCS Group?
Unlikely to replace it outright. NCS has built its own AI tools like Sunshine.Coder and Sunshine.Operations, and its FY25 EBIT grew 39% partly via AI-driven delivery optimisation, meaning AI is expanding margins rather than eating them, as of the FY25 Singtel results published for year ended 31 March 2025.
Who is NCS Group's biggest competitor?
Outside Singapore's public sector, analysts say NCS is overshadowed by global Tier-1 systems integrators including Accenture, NTT Ltd, DXC Technology and Infosys, per a 2021 CurrentAnalysis assessment. Inside Singapore and Southeast Asia, NCS itself ranks #1 in IT services market share per IDC data cited in Singtel's 2024 Investor Day materials.
How big is NCS Group by headcount?
NCS states it has more than 15,000 staff across Singapore, Australia, China, India and the Philippines as of 2026, per its own website. Independent estimator Revelio Labs puts worldwide headcount at 10,144 as of December 2025, up 11.5% from 9,038 in 2024.
What is NCS Group's revenue?
Singtel's Group CEO stated NCS revenue grew from S$1.8 billion to S$3 billion over roughly six years, per a January 2026 Straits Times report. Wikipedia cites FY2024 (year ended 31 March 2024) revenue at S$2.835 billion as of a June 2026 update.
