The call

Neodigital's own investors are dismantling it piece by piece, leaving a technology shell whose next customer win will show whether anyone outside its cap table wants what it sells.

Neodigital built insurance software and a motor insurance joint venture for the German market, but its major investors (HUK-Coburg, W&W Group, and others on its cap table) have been buying up its pieces since mid-2025 instead of staying invested in the whole company. The company is now trying to shift to selling software-as-a-service to other insurers, but it has no special data, no guaranteed customers locked in, and the big German insurers like HUK-Coburg are proving they can build this technology themselves or buy it from AI-forward competitors like GetSafe. The one thing that could prove skeptics wrong: if Neodigital lands a real paying customer outside its investor group in the next six to twelve months, it might show the software is valuable enough to stand alone.

Why
01
AI pressure: GetSafe and generic AI underwriting tools used by larger carriers. AI-driven underwriting lets carriers like HUK-Coburg replicate Neodigital's tech edge in-house, cutting the reason to license anything from Neodigital. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: HUK-Coburg, W&W Group/Adam Riese, HDI/Talanx. These same investors have already taken the motor book (2025) and the P&C portfolio (2026), proving they can absorb Neodigital's business themselves. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. German insurance licensing and regulatory approval still take time to replicate, giving Neodigital's remaining tech shell some breathing room.
What would change this call
Neodigital discloses ARR or named non-shareholder carriers on its IaaS platform within 12 months. Would show real third-party licensing traction beyond its own shrinking book.
Another cap-table investor announces absorbing a further Neodigital unit or portfolio. Would confirm the pattern of being disassembled by its own backers.
Next SFCR/annual report shows sustained technical (underwriting) profit, not just one-off net profit. Would show underwriting economics are actually improving, not just book-shrinkage.

What happened to Neodigital's insurance portfolio in 2026?
In July 2026, W&W Group's Adam Riese brand acquired a portfolio of Neodigital Versicherung AG's insurance business, advised by law firm Clyde & Co. CEO Stephen Voss framed the sale as freeing Neodigital to focus on its Insurance-as-a-Service platform strategy.
