The call

Rivigo the operating company was sold to Mahindra Logistics in 2022; what carries the name now is a nearly empty shell with almost no revenue.

Rivigo tried to speed up long-distance trucking by swapping drivers at relay points instead of having one driver go the whole way. The idea was clever operations, not hard to defend: competitors like Delhivery didn't copy it because they made more money doing things their own way, and now cheap AI logistics software is doing what Rivigo Labs specialized in anyway. The company ran out of money (revenue crashed from ₹1,080 crore to ₹3.7 crore in just a few years) because it burned cash faster than trucks burned fuel, so Mahindra Logistics bought the brand and business in late 2022 for a distress price. What matters now is whether Mahindra can actually make the old Rivigo routes profitable when it reports results in August 2026, or if the Rivigo name just disappears.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generic logistics-AI platforms for route optimization and freight-matching. The company barely operates, so AI tools eating route planning or freight matching have nothing left here to eat. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Mahindra Logistics. Mahindra bought the actual Rivigo business (brand, routes, 1,300 staff) for 225 crore rupees in 2022, leaving only a legal shell behind. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. None apparent: the operating business, fleet, and brand were already sold off.
What would change this call
Mahindra Logistics Q1 FY27 results (~Aug 2026) for its Express segment. Would show if the former Rivigo business reaches breakeven or is quietly shelved.
Formal insolvency or dissolution filing for RSPL within 6-12 months. Would confirm the legacy Rivigo entity has fully wound down.
Any funded relaunch of RSPL under an asset-light model. Would show whether Rivigo's brand still has viable prospects independent of Mahindra.

Questions people ask
Is Rivigo profitable in 2026?
No. The legacy entity Rivigo Services Private Limited (RSPL) had already seen revenue fall 40% to 634 crore rupees in FY21 before its core business was sold off in 2022, and no new funding or product launch has been reported for RSPL in the 18 months before mid-2026.
Did Rivigo get acquired?
Yes. Mahindra Logistics acquired Rivigo's B2B Express and part-truckload business for 225 crore rupees in a slump sale announced September 26, 2022 and completed November 10, 2022, appointing S. Venkateswaran as CEO of the unit.
Who owns Rivigo now?
Ownership is split. Rivigo Services Private Limited remains privately held and keeps its full truckload relay trucking rights, while Mahindra Logistics has owned and operated the Rivigo brand and B2B Express platform since the November 10, 2022 acquisition for 225 crore rupees.
Could AI replace Rivigo?
Rivigo's route and load optimization edge came from its in-house Rivigo Labs data science team, but that software layer is now widely commoditized across logistics AI platforms. Its physical relay trucking network resists pure AI substitution, though that asset-heavy model still forced a 2022 distress sale.
Who is Rivigo's biggest competitor?
Mahindra Logistics now directly competes with the residual RSPL entity while also owning the acquired Rivigo brand itself (since November 2022). Delhivery and Blackbuck are also named peers operating at greater scale in Indian trucking and B2B express logistics.
Did Rivigo have layoffs?
Around 1,300 on-ground executives were transferred from Rivigo to Mahindra Logistics as part of the November 2022 acquisition, following an August 2022 report that Rivigo had already sold off 80% of its truck fleet while cash-strapped.
