The call

Bolt.new proved AI coding tools can grow fast, then stalled at $40M while Lovable raced to $400M and Anthropic began selling the same agent capability directly.

StackBlitz makes Bolt.new, a web-based coding environment that uses Claude AI to help build apps and websites. The company grew very fast at first (reaching $40 million in yearly revenue in just five months), but then stopped growing while a rival called Lovable kept climbing to ten times that amount. The real problem is that Anthropic, the company behind Claude, just released its own general-purpose AI agent tools that do the same thing Bolt does, so there is less reason for customers to pay StackBlitz instead of building with Anthropic directly or using Microsoft's GitHub Copilot, which is already built into tools most developers use.

Why
01
AI pressure: Anthropic Claude Agent SDK and Managed Agents. Anthropic now sells the same agentic coding capability Bolt built on top of Claude, cutting into what made Bolt special. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Microsoft (GitHub Copilot). Copilot hit $400M ARR growing 281% while Bolt sits flat at $40M, and Microsoft is both partner and rival through Azure and M365. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. WebContainers tech and Bolt Cloud lock some developers into StackBlitz's browser environment and workflow.
What would change this call
StackBlitz announces a Series C or updated valuation within 6 months. Shows whether investors still back Bolt despite the ARR plateau.
Bolt.new ARR remains near $40M through year-end 2026. Confirms growth has stalled while rivals like Lovable keep scaling.
Anthropic expands Claude Agent SDK/Managed Agents into a first-party coding agent product. Would show Anthropic commoditizing the exact layer Bolt sells.

Questions people ask
Is StackBlitz profitable in 2026?
No profitability figures are disclosed. StackBlitz's Bolt.new product reached about $40M ARR by March 2025 and remained near that level as of July 2026, per tech-insider.org, with no public statement on profitability.
Could Anthropic's Claude replace Bolt.new?
Bolt.new is built as a Claude orchestration layer. Anthropic shipped its Claude Agent SDK (2026-07-05) and Managed Agents framework (2026-04-08), which generalize the exact agentic-coding capability Bolt commercializes, creating direct commoditization risk.
Who owns StackBlitz?
StackBlitz, Inc. is privately held and venture-backed, with no parent company. Its largest round was a $105.5M Series B led by Emergence Capital and GV, announced around 2025-01-21, valuing the company at roughly $700M.
Is joining StackBlitz (Bolt.new) a safe career move?
Mixed signal. Bolt.new scaled from $0 to $40M ARR with fewer than 20 people by March 2025, but ARR has stalled near $40M since then (as of 2026-07-17) while rival Lovable reached about $400M ARR, and no new funding round has been reported in 18 months.
Who is StackBlitz's biggest competitor?
Lovable, a Stockholm-based rival, reported roughly $400M ARR by February 2026, about 10x StackBlitz's Bolt.new figure of $40M as of July 2026 per tech-insider.org, making it the clearest revenue-scale competitor in AI app-building.
Has StackBlitz raised new funding recently?
No. Its last disclosed round was a $105.5M Series B around January 2025, bringing total disclosed funding to about $135M as of December 2025 per sacra.com, with no new priced round reported through mid-2026.
