The call

EVERY has products, customers, and scale-up partners in place, but its core patent is being contested by Onego Bio and its 2026 profitability claim is still unconfirmed.

The Every Company grows egg protein in labs instead of raising chickens, then sells it to food brands. Two things make this hard to replace: they have actual products selling in Walmart and Target, and they own a U.S. patent on their main technology. However, a competitor called Onego Bio is suing them over that same patent in court, and The Every Company promised it would be profitable in 2026, but nobody outside the company has confirmed that actually happened yet. If the court rules against them or if 2026 profits don't materialize as claimed, the whole business becomes much shakier.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI does not directly threaten fermented protein sales, though rivals may use AI protein design to speed up strain development. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Onego Bio. Onego Bio has its own FDA-cleared ovalbumin product live in market and is suing EVERY over the core US patent. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. FDA GRAS clearance plus real retail placement at Walmart and Target and manufacturing deals with ADM and Huvepharma give it working supply and sales that Onego Bio must still match.

Questions people ask
Is The Every Company profitable in 2026?
Not confirmed. In an October 28, 2025 interview, EVERY's leadership said it expected 'profitable unit economics' in 2026, but as of mid-2026 no audited or independently verified confirmation of that milestone has been published, making it the single most-watched unresolved claim about the company.
Who owns The Every Company?
The Every Company is private and venture-backed. Investors include Grupo Bimbo (2019), AB InBev's ZX Ventures (2021), Anne Hathaway (2023), and Agronomics Limited (LSE: ANIC), which had invested about £5.9 million by November 2025. Its Series D, closed November 4, 2025, was led by McWin Capital Partners.
Is The Every Company being sued over its patents?
Yes. Rival Onego Bio sued EVERY over its US patent (No. 12,096,784) for recombinant ovalbumin. A Wisconsin case was dismissed for lack of jurisdiction on May 5, 2026, but a parallel Delaware case continues, with EVERY seeking sanctions against Onego Bio around May 11, 2026.
Could AI replace The Every Company?
Unlikely. EVERY's value comes from strain engineering, fermentation science, and FDA GRAS regulatory clearances for its OvoPro and OvoBoost egg proteins, not knowledge-work software. As of mid-2026 no evidence suggests generative AI threatens its biomanufacturing or distribution business model directly.
Who is The Every Company's biggest competitor?
Onego Bio, a Finland-based spinout of VTT, is EVERY's closest rival: it also makes fermentation-based ovalbumin and is one of only two companies with US regulatory clearance for precision-fermented egg protein, and it is actively litigating EVERY's core patent in Delaware as of 2026.
How much funding has The Every Company raised?
EVERY closed a $55 million Series D on November 4, 2025, led by McWin Capital Partners, with participation from Main Sequence, Bloom8, TO.VC, Minerva Foods, Grosvenor Food & Ag, New Agrarian, and SOSV, funding a planned nationwide US retail rollout.
