The call

Vida grows fast on a small base while its closest public rival is bigger, profitable, and already shipping the AI features Vida hasn't shown yet.

Vida Health hires nurses and coaches to help patients manage heart disease, diabetes, and weight through phone calls, messaging, and prescription support. The company is harder to copy than it looks because it has licenses to prescribe certain weight-loss drugs and direct contracts with insurance companies and employers, but bigger competitors like Omada Health and Teladoc (which owns Livongo) already do the same thing and have more money and customers. The big question is whether Vida can hit profitability by mid-2026 as promised, ship visible AI tools to match what Omada is showing customers, and prove it can grow faster than the well-established players closing in on the same market.

Why
01
AI pressure: Omada Health's OmadaSpark and Meal Map. Omada already ships named AI coaching tools while Vida has no visible AI product, widening the feature gap in enterprise deals. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Teladoc Health (Livongo). Livongo already holds about 22% of digital chronic care share and sits inside half of Fortune 500 employers, same buyers Vida chases. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. GLP-1 prescribing authority, payer contracts, and a new DiMe Seal give Vida clinical credibility that's hard to copy overnight.
What would change this call
Vida announces GAAP profitability within 6-12 months of its July 2025 raise. Shows whether the funding round actually closed the profitability gap with Omada.
Vida ships a named clinical-AI product comparable to Omada's OmadaSpark or Meal Map. Shows whether Vida can close the visible feature gap with its main public rival.
Omada Health or Teladoc/Livongo publicly announce a Fortune 500 or large payer contract Vida was competing for. Would show direct loss of enterprise business to a named rival.
Key numbers
  • Vida: 90%+ revenue growth, still not profitable (Jul 2025)
  • Omada: $260M revenue, GAAP-profitable Q4 2025 (Mar 2026)
  • Livongo: ~22% chronic-care share, 50%+ Fortune 500 (Mar 2026)
Named risks
  • Vida has not yet achieved profitability despite a raise explicitly meant to fund it there. Severity: high
  • Better-capitalized, already-profitable public rival Omada Health competes for identical enterprise and payer contracts. Severity: high
  • No confirmed named AI product to match Omada's OmadaSpark and Meal Map, risking loss in enterprise RFPs. Severity: medium
  • Inconsistent, vendor-claimed financial and funding figures across trackers undermine external verification. Severity: medium
  • Brand confusion with unrelated entities (Vida Y Salud data breach, vida.io AI agent platform) could create reputational noise. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is Vida Health profitable?
Not yet as of mid 2026. Vida's August 2025 $35M Series F, led by General Atlantic and NGP Capital, was explicitly described as designed to fully fund Vida to profitability, implying the company had not yet reached that milestone at the time of the raise.
Who is Vida Health's biggest competitor?
Omada Health is Vida's closest public peer, reporting $260M FY2025 revenue (up 53% YoY), 886,000 members, and its first GAAP-profitable quarter in Q4 2025. Teladoc's Livongo unit is the entrenched incumbent, holding an estimated 22% of the digital chronic-care category as of March 2026.
Could AI replace Vida Health's coaches?
AI can automate lower-acuity tasks like check-ins and behavior logging, and Vida already markets an AI-powered app experience layered on human coaches (as of November 2023). But GLP-1 prescribing, payer integrations, and liability-bearing clinical care remain human-delivered and regulated as of 2026.
Who owns Vida Health?
Vida Health is privately held and venture-backed, with no IPO filed as of 2026. Major investors include General Atlantic, Ally Bridge Group, Canvas Ventures, Hercules Capital, Workday Ventures, NGP Capital, GuideWell, Centene, and AXA Venture Partners, per a November 2023 announcement.
How much funding has Vida Health raised?
Figures vary by tracker: CB Insights reports $251.5M across 9 rounds as of August 2025, including a $35M Series F, while Caplight cites $163M total through November 2023. Vida itself has not published a consolidated lifetime funding figure.
Is Vida Health growing faster than Omada Health?
Vida claims 90%+ revenue growth and 70% customer growth in the year before July 2025 (vendor-claimed), versus Omada's reported 53% YoY revenue growth to $260M in FY2025. Omada is larger and already GAAP-profitable as of Q4 2025, while Vida is not.
