The call

The parent company cannot go broke, but Zoho Desk itself can lose ground to AI-native rivals and Freshworks while the wider suite keeps humming.

Zoho Desk helps companies manage customer service tickets and conversations. It is hard to replace because Zoho sells it as part of a bundle called Zoho One, where customers use many Zoho products together, and because the parent company owns itself and has been profitable for 30 years without needing outside money. However, Freshworks, a competitor started by former Zoho workers, is now profitable and buying AI companies to improve its support tool, while newer AI-powered support vendors like Sierra and Ada are winning new customers by being better at handling problems automatically. The big question is whether AI that can solve customer problems on its own becomes so important that Zoho's AI tool, which scores lower than the best competitors, causes customers to leave for better AI options.

Why
01
AI pressure: Sierra, Decagon, Intercom Fin, Ada, Forethought. AI-native vendors sell autonomous resolution as the default; Zoho's Zia rates ~6.5/10 on autonomy, weak enough to lose new-logo deals. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Freshworks. Same India cost base, GAAP-profitable, now buying AI (FireHydrant, Jan 2026) to out-ship Zoho Desk in the same value tier. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Zoho One bundling keeps Desk inside a suite most customers won't unbundle just to switch one app.
What would change this call
Zoho Desk customer counts or Zoho One bundle attach rates shift in 2026 earnings or company updates. Would show whether Zoho One suite lock-in is holding or customers are unbundling Desk.
Freshworks reports Desk-tier or ITSM win rates after its FireHydrant acquisition (Jan 2026). Would show whether Freshworks is converting AI investment into taken share from Zoho Desk.
Independent benchmarks compare Zia's resolution/autonomy rate against Sierra, Decagon, or Ada in 2026. Would show whether the AI capability gap is widening or narrowing.

Questions people ask
Is Zoho Desk profitable?
Zoho Desk's parent, Zoho Corporation, is profitable and self-funded with no outside VC or IPO. Zoho Corp reported FY25 revenue of about $1.62B and net income of about $380M, per its February 2026 30th-anniversary release and financial data through July 2026.
Could AI replace Zoho Desk?
Not the product line itself, but AI-native rivals like Sierra, Decagon and Intercom Fin are winning new-logo helpdesk deals. Zoho's own Zia AI is rated around 6.5/10 by reviewers as of July 2026, with no published resolution rate, lagging AI-native agents on autonomy.

There is no indication of an imminent IPO. Zoho Corporation has stated as of February 2026 it remains bootstrapped and profitable with no significant outside venture funding, a posture unchanged since its 1996 founding as AdventNet.
How does Zoho Desk pricing compare to Zendesk or Freshdesk?
Zoho Desk's Enterprise tier runs about $40 per agent per month versus roughly $89 for Zendesk and Freshdesk Enterprise as of July 2026, positioning Zoho Desk as the value/budget option in the helpdesk category.
