Flash Express
Bangkok-based parcel courier moving 1-2 million packages a day across Thailand.
Flash turned a profit and built real scale, but Shopee, Lazada, and J&T are all pulling parcel volume toward their own networks.
Flash Express is a parcel-delivery company that has grown to handle 1-2M packages per day across Thailand and connects directly to online shopping platforms. It is hard to replace because it has built a dense network and made real money, but it is getting easier for competitors to beat it: J&T Express, a much larger Hong Kong company, is growing 18.5% per year and already controls over one-third of Southeast Asia's parcel market; Shopee and Lazada, the region's biggest online marketplaces, are building their own delivery arms (SPX and LEX) and keeping their packages in-house instead of hiring Flash; and Kerry Express, backed by a Chinese logistics giant, is using AI computers to sort packages faster and cheaper. Flash makes only 3.8 cents profit per dollar of sales, so even small price cuts from Temu's ultra-cheap shipping or from competitors using new automation can wipe out its earnings. The one thing that could save Flash is if its Thai customer base stays loyal and the company can prove that J&T and the platforms are not actually stealing Flash's own parcels yet, but watching that data over the next 12 months will matter more than anything else.
Shopee or Lazada disclose the share of Thai parcels routed via SPX/LEX vs third-party carriers. Would show how much of Flash's addressable e-commerce volume is being pulled in-house.
Flash Express reports net margin above or below 4% in its next annual results. Would confirm whether margin compression from Temu and rivals is reversing or worsening.
