The call

Igloo now exists inside Appspace's roadmap, not its own, with Microsoft's AI-native tools closing in on the same workflows it was built to own.

Igloo Software makes tools that help company workers search for documents, get answers, and receive personalized information from all their work systems in one place. Microsoft has built very similar features directly into Teams, Outlook, and Copilot, and newer AI assistants like Glean do the same job better. The fact that Igloo connects to payroll systems like Workday and Active Directory gives it some staying power, but because Igloo was just bought by Appspace in September 2025 and is being merged into a bigger platform, it is no longer its own company. What matters most now is whether Appspace keeps Igloo as a separate product or just absorbs it completely, and whether the AI features they build can match or beat what Microsoft and competitors are already offering.

Why
01
AI pressure: Microsoft Copilot and Glean. Copilot and Glean now do the search, retrieval, and employee assist work that was Igloo's core pitch, built into tools people already open. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Microsoft (Viva, SharePoint, Teams, Copilot). Microsoft bundles intranet, comms, and AI assist into products companies already pay for, squeezing the case for a separate tool like Igloo. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Deep integrations with Workday, Active Directory, UKG, and Concur create switching friction that slows customer exits even as the product's future gets decided elsewhere.
