The call

KlearNow holds real regulatory licenses that took years to build, but frozen funding and flat headcount leave it thin against a well-funded rival now targeting the exact automation layer it sells.

KlearNow helps companies file customs paperwork faster by using AI to read documents and submit forms automatically. It has real licenses in five places and worked with the U.S. government for eight years, which is hard to build from scratch. But Altana, a much bigger competitor with more money, just bought a company called Cervo AI in July 2026 that does almost the same thing KlearNow does. KlearNow has not raised new money since 2021 and has not grown its team much, so it cannot compete as well. The one thing that could turn this around is if KlearNow gets a new round of funding soon and shows it can grow faster than Altana, or if Altana's product rollout stumbles.

Why
01
AI pressure: Altana (Cervo AI acquisition). Altana bought Cervo AI on July 21, 2026 to build agentic customs filing, the same task KlearNow charges for today. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Descartes Systems Group and WiseTech Global (CargoWise). Both run massive customer bases and could bolt on AI filing tools faster than KlearNow can raise new capital to compete. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Licensed customs broker status in 5 countries plus 8 years of direct government system integrations that are slow to copy.
What would change this call
KlearNow announces a new priced funding round within 6-12 months. Shows investors still back it against better-funded rivals.
Altana or Descartes announces contracts with named former KlearNow reference customers. Would confirm customer defection to a rival's agentic or compliance platform.
Altana publishes agentic-customs product launch or CBP integration milestones. Shows how fast the commoditizing rival is shipping against KlearNow's moat.

Questions people ask
Is KlearNow profitable in 2026?
No public profitability data exists for KlearNow as of July 2026. The company is private with no SEC filings, and ZoomInfo estimates revenue near $73.5 million, but that figure is an unverified third party estimate, not a disclosed financial result from KlearNow itself.
Could AI replace KlearNow?
KlearNow's core document digitization and customs entry filing is exactly what agentic AI targets. Altana acquired Cervo AI on July 21, 2026 to build a fully agentic customs workflow. KlearNow's licensed broker status in five jurisdictions is the main layer AI alone cannot replicate, per its trade compliance page dated 2026-03-25.
Who are KlearNow's biggest competitors?
KlearNow competes with Altana, which acquired Cervo AI on July 21, 2026 and serves 8 of the top 10 global logistics providers plus US CBP, and with Descartes Systems Group, a NASDAQ listed incumbent reported to serve more than 25,000 customers as of May 2026.
Has KlearNow raised funding recently?
No. KlearNow's last disclosed priced round was a $50 million Series B closed December 13, 2021, led by Kayne Partners Fund. As of March 2026 Caplight data shows total funding at $66 million with no new priced round in roughly 4.5 years.

Does KlearNow have real customers or just AI hype?
KlearNow states it serves over 2,000 customers including Fortune 500 organizations, per a 2026-03-24 vendor adjacent profile, though this is a company claimed figure. Sumitomo Corporation of Americas confirmed joining its Customer Advisory Council in March 2025, per Sumitomo's own June 2025 release.
