The call

MoEngage looks cash-stable and growing, but its headline ARR and IPO story still need to match what its filed India numbers actually show.

MoEngage is software that helps companies send personalized messages to customers across email, SMS, push notifications, and in-app channels. It collects data on how customers behave and uses that to time and target messages better. The hard parts are building the integrations into thousands of apps, following strict messaging laws, and keeping customers from switching to Salesforce, Braze, or CleverTap. The biggest risk is that artificial intelligence can now write and test message variations automatically, which means the company's value could shrink if that work becomes cheap enough for anyone to do. One thing that matters: the company says it makes about $100 million per year, but its Indian tax filings show only $37 million to $38 million last year. If those numbers do not line up clearly when they file their next reports, investors will lose trust right before the company tries to go public in 2027.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generative AI copywriting tools and LLM agents (Claude, ChatGPT via MCP). AI can write campaign copy and generate variants directly, pushing MoEngage's own Merlin AI toward a thinner, easily copied layer. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
What protects it. First-party behavioral data, deep SDK and delivery integrations, and transactional-messaging compliance make switching costly.
What would change this call
Consolidated FY25/FY26 filings show global revenue near India-entity's ~$37-38M rather than ~$100M. The widely cited ARR figure was overstated, hurting IPO credibility.
Braze or Salesforce ships a mid-market MCP/agentic feature comparable to MoEngage's Merlin AI. MoEngage's AI-layer differentiation is being matched or commoditized by larger rivals.
MoEngage delays its stated mid-2027 IPO target or holds another secondary sale beforehand. Signals weaker investor confidence or slower path to the growth needed for listing.

  • Workforce concentration with ~79% of staff in India amid global expansion push. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is MoEngage profitable in 2026?
MoEngage claims it turned EBITDA-positive in the Oct-Dec 2025 quarter, per Inc42 reporting dated 2026-02-21, and CEO Raviteja Dodda said the company expected profitability the quarter after its Dec 2025 raise. These figures are company-sourced and unconfirmed by independent audited filings.
How much revenue does MoEngage actually make?
Press reports (TechCrunch, 2025-12-17) cite MoEngage tracking toward ~$100M global ARR for 2025, but its filed India entity reported only ~$37-38M revenue (₹311.5 crore) for FY24 as of a 2026-05-28 Inc42 filing review, leaving a large unreconciled gap.
Is MoEngage going public soon?
MoEngage completed a reverse-flip merger from US to India domicile, approved by the NCLT on 2026-01-30, and CEO Raviteja Dodda has targeted being IPO-ready by mid-2027, contingent on market conditions, per Inc42 reporting from 2026-02-21.
Who owns MoEngage and is it publicly traded?
MoEngage is privately held and VC-backed, not publicly traded. It closed a $280M Series F in December 2025 (led by ChrysCapital, Dragon Fund, Schroders Capital) at a valuation reported as well over $900M by TechCrunch on 2025-12-17.
Could AI replace MoEngage's product?
MoEngage's generative copywriting, variant testing, and analytics features are commoditizable by general LLMs, but the company repositioned itself as data infrastructure by opening an MCP server on 2026-06-03 letting Claude and ChatGPT access its customer data directly, rather than competing head-on with frontier AI agents.
Who is MoEngage's biggest competitor?
MoEngage's closest rivals are CleverTap in APAC mobile-first engagement, Braze at enterprise scale, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud as the legacy incumbent. A third-party comparison (genesysgrowth.com, 2026-01-31) noted MoEngage's 2-4 week implementation versus Braze's 8-12 weeks.
