The call

Net One's Cisco relationship and government ties still generate growing revenue, but the company itself is mid-dissolution into SCSK with the real test landing in 2027.

Net One Systems built a 38-year relationship selling Cisco equipment and IT services to Japanese government and telecom companies. It is hard to replace because those customers rely on the company's deep knowledge of their systems and trust, but AI-powered monitoring tools like Datadog and Splunk are now automating many of the routine tasks Net One's engineers used to do by hand, which is already squeezing profit margins. The entire future depends on whether the parent company SCSK integrates Net One smoothly after the full merger in 2027, and whether the jobs and roles that made Net One valuable end up protected or eliminated in the new organization.

Why
01
AI pressure: AIOps platforms (Cisco Intersight, Datadog, Splunk). Automated monitoring and triage tools are live and squeezing Telecom segment margins even as sales grow. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: NTT Data, Fujitsu, NEC, Hitachi. Japan's tier-1 systems integrators run their own Cisco-anchored practices and compete for the same government and carrier accounts. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Nearly four decades as Cisco's sole Japan distributor plus deep, hard-to-replace workflows inside government and carrier networks.
What would change this call
SCSK earnings calls through FY2027 reporting Net One segment integration costs and margin trends. Shows whether Telecom segment margin pressure is worsening or stabilizing post-merger.
April 1, 2027 absorption-type merger completion as scheduled with SCSK as surviving entity. Confirms Net One's legal independence ends and integration risk becomes concrete.
Public disclosure of headcount retention or role consolidation numbers after the 2027 merger. Indicates whether Net One's specialist functions are preserved or absorbed into commodity roles.
Key numbers
  • FY2025 net sales: ¥232,503 million (2025-03-31)
  • SCSK tender offer carried ~26% premium, ~¥360B total (2024-11-07)
  • Telecom segment: sales +6.6%, operating profit -2.2% YoY (FY2025)
Named risks
  • Full absorption merger into SCSK effective April 1, 2027 will end Net One's separate corporate existence. Severity: high
  • Key merger date and deal-value figures rest on a single secondary Japanese blog, not confirmed via primary SCSK/TSE filing. Severity: medium
  • AIOps automation eroding margins in commodity network-monitoring work, visible in Telecom segment profit decline. Severity: medium
  • Piecemeal business-unit transfers (e.g., security services to SCSK Security in April 2026) ahead of full 2027 merger create organizational uncertainty. Severity: medium
  • Two layers of ownership change (SCSK TOB then Sumitomo Corporation TOB of SCSK) could shift capital allocation priorities away from Net One's integration. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is Net One Systems still an independent public company in 2026?
No. SCSK Corporation completed a tender offer for Net One in December 2024, making it a wholly owned subsidiary (delisted December 25, 2024), and a March 25, 2026 merger agreement sets an absorption-type merger effective April 1, 2027, after which the Net One name disappears.
Is Net One Systems profitable?
Yes. For the nine months ended December 31, 2024, Net One reported net sales of 155,396 million yen (+8.7% YoY), operating profit of 14,314 million yen (+18.3% YoY), and profit attributable to owners of 9,567 million yen (+20.5% YoY), all described as record highs for the period.
Who owns Net One Systems now?
Net One Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of SCSK Corporation, following SCSK's tender offer completed December 25, 2024. SCSK itself was fully acquired by Sumitomo Corporation via a tender offer completed in December 2025, placing Net One two ownership layers deep under Sumitomo.
Could AI replace Net One Systems' network monitoring jobs?
Partially. Its lower-value first-line monitoring and ticket-triage work overlaps with AIOps automation, and this pressure is already visible: for the nine months ended December 31, 2024, its Telecom segment saw sales rise 6.6% YoY but operating profit fall 2.2% YoY, a margin squeeze consistent with commodity-tier automation.
Who is Net One Systems' biggest competitor?
Tier-1 Japanese systems integrators NTT Data, Fujitsu, NEC and Hitachi dominate the broader market. Net One's new parent SCSK is targeting roughly 1 trillion yen in net sales by FY2030-2031, partly through the Net One integration, explicitly aiming to compete at that tier-1 scale.
When will Net One Systems disappear as a brand?
Per a merger agreement signed March 25, 2026, SCSK will absorb Net One Systems in an absorption-type merger with SCSK as the surviving entity, effective April 1, 2027, at which point the separate Net One Systems name ceases to exist as a corporate entity.
