The call

Tidio has real revenue and customers but sits on borrowed distribution and a Claude-based AI layer that Shopify and Intercom can both undercut.

Tidio lets small business owners talk to customers through live chat and use AI chatbots to answer questions automatically. The problem is that its AI runs on top of Claude (made by another company), so there is nothing special about it, and Shopify, which owns the app store where Tidio sells most of its products, is building its own version for free. Intercom already has a competing AI product that charges almost nothing per answer. If Shopify launches a built-in customer service bot, Tidio's sales could stop almost overnight, since store owners would just use what already comes with Shopify instead of paying extra.

Why
01
AI pressure: Anthropic Claude / Intercom Fin AI. Lyro is a Claude wrapper; any merchant can build the same FAQ bot on raw Claude API or switch to Intercom Fin at $0.99 per resolution. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Shopify. Shopify owns the app store Tidio depends on and can ship its own AI support agent straight into merchant admin. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 300,000+ installed merchants and high app-store ratings create switching friction, but nothing stops Shopify or Claude from replicating the core function.
What would change this call
Shopify launches a first-party AI support agent inside merchant admin. Would show Tidio's core distribution channel is being closed off by its host platform.
Tidio announces a Series C or major funding round within 6 months. Would contradict the 4-year funding dry spell and signal renewed investor confidence.
Tidio's web traffic keeps falling for two more quarters after the -20% QoQ drop. Would confirm shrinking top-of-funnel demand rather than a temporary dip.

Questions people ask
Is Tidio profitable in 2026?
Tidio does not disclose profitability. Third-party estimate sites put annual revenue around $30-48M as of 2024-2026, but these are unverified estimates, not company-confirmed figures, and no profit margin data has been published.
Has Tidio raised a Series C funding round?
No. Tidio's last confirmed funding was a $25M Series B led by PeakSpan Capital on 2022-05-12. As of mid-2026, no new round has been publicly reported, roughly 50 months without fresh capital.
Could AI replace Tidio's chatbot product?
Tidio's Lyro chatbot runs on Anthropic's Claude 3 (upgraded 2024-12-09), meaning its core intelligence is rented, not proprietary. This exposes Tidio to commoditization as rivals like Intercom Fin and Shopify's own tooling build on the same frontier models.
Who is Tidio's biggest competitor?
Intercom's Fin AI, priced at about $0.99 per resolution as of 2026-04-13, directly undercuts Tidio's SMB segment. Shopify, which owns Tidio's largest distribution channel via its app store, is also a named structural threat.
How many businesses use Tidio?
Tidio's own about page (2024-03-26) claims 300,000+ businesses across 205+ countries use its platform, with the chat widget viewed by roughly 510 million unique users monthly, according to the company's own marketing statements.
How much does Tidio cost?
As of 2026-05-07, Tidio's plans range from a Free tier to Starter (~$24-29/mo), Growth (~$49-59/mo), up to Plus at $749/mo, with Lyro AI and Flows billed as separate add-ons, pushing real AI-enabled deployments to $100-260+/month.
