The call

Ziflow survives on real enterprise trust and workflow habit, but its funding has stalled for over three years while Adobe and monday.com sit one product decision away from taking its lunch.

Ziflow helps companies review and approve documents, designs, and media with built-in compliance tracking and version history. The problem: Adobe already owns similar tools through Workfront and Frame.io, AI is starting to automate the core checking work that Ziflow does by hand, and a major sales partner called monday.com could build the same features themselves tomorrow. The one thing that matters most is whether monday.com decides to stop selling Ziflow and launch their own version instead, which would cut off a lifeline the company increasingly depends on.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generative multimodal AI (e.g. tools automating brand/compliance checks and version diffing). AI can already flag compliance errors and diff versions, tasks that make up much of what human reviewers do on Ziflow today. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Adobe (Workfront, Frame.io, and the old ProofHQ lineage). Adobe already owns proofing history through ProofHQ and could bundle equivalent review tools into Workfront or Creative Cloud at any time. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Ten years of enterprise workflow lock-in with named accounts like Toyota, DoorDash and AWS, plus compliance certifications that are slow to re-earn elsewhere.
What would change this call
monday.com launches a native proofing/markup feature in its product. Would sever Ziflow's key distribution channel and confirm partner-turned-rival risk.
Ziflow announces a new funding round (Series B or otherwise) within 12 months. Would show investors still see growth potential despite 41 months without a raise.
Adobe expands Workfront/Frame.io proofing features to match Ziflow's compliance workflows. Would show the incumbent closing the gap on Ziflow's core differentiator.

  • Headcount decline of 3% YoY suggests contraction pressure rather than growth. Severity: medium
  • AI automation of compliance checks could commoditize core proofing workflow across all vendors. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Ziflow profitable or still burning venture funding?
Ziflow has not disclosed profitability figures. It last raised a $20M Series A in February 2023 and has not announced a new round since, with a tracker noting 41 months since its last raise as of mid-2026, suggesting reliance on that funding or existing revenue rather than confirmed profitability.
Could AI replace Ziflow's proofing software?
Core tasks like compliance checklists and version comparison are increasingly automatable, which is why Ziflow launched its own ReviewAI engine in November 2025. Ziflow frames AI as augmentation, with humans accepting or rejecting AI suggestions, not full replacement, as of its 2025 Year in Review published December 16, 2025.
Who is Ziflow's biggest competitor?
Adobe is the biggest structural threat since it owns Workfront, which absorbed Ziflow's direct predecessor ProofHQ in 2015, and also owns Frame.io. Day to day, Ziflow competes with Filestage, PageProof, GoProof, and Picflow, with PageProof rated highest by users at 4.8 to 4.9 out of 5 as of June 2026.
Is Ziflow shrinking or growing its headcount in 2026?
Headcount has declined slightly, from about 140 employees reported in February 2023 to roughly 100 to 102 by June 2026, a negative 3% year over year change according to a Crustdata tracker dated June 20, 2026, indicating flat to shrinking staffing rather than growth.
Does Ziflow depend on monday.com for growth?
Yes, Ziflow became an official go to proofing add-on for monday.com announced April 2, 2025, with general availability targeted by mid-2026. This distribution channel is a key growth lever, but it is also a risk if monday.com ever ships native proofing features.
How much funding has Ziflow raised in total?
Ziflow has raised roughly $27M to $30M cumulatively across a $700K seed in September 2017, a $1.29M seed round in July 2020, a $6M expansion round in April 2021, and a $20M Series A closed February 2023, per CB Insights data dated April 1, 2025.
